Bringing Home The Winnings

Hi! This is Meredeth. Mom is always telling me to make a post about whats up in my life, so here's a quick update for those who don't have access to my own blog :)

I just returned from California with my Acting Up troupe. We were there for the Musical Theatre Competition of America at Fullerton College. We took some workshops in Disneyland and had some fun in the parks. We spent a full day at the college competing various solos, duets, costume designs, set designs, and ensemble numbers. Each of our kids participated in a "cattle call" workshop in which they auditioned for a production number to show to everyone at the end of the week. Of our 34 kids, 17 of them were cast in this number. Of the 6 solo opportunities, 3 of them were given to kids from our team. We were excited with that outcome!

At the awards ceremony we took home 19 awards: 5 first place trophies, 4 second place trophies, 3 third place trophies, 3 fourth place trophies, 2 outstanding vocalist awards, 1 outstanding dancer award, and the Sweepstakes trophy (highest score!). We felt very accomplished before the awards ceremony, but completely ecstatic leaving with this many awards.

Everyone with our trophies

While in California we took time to perform our fireside at an LDS stake, we took workshops at The Edge with top teachers and dancers, and we performed for homeless shelters on Skid Row. It was a wonderful weekend!
